On the Isle of Portland the Hard Slatt is a calcarenite limestone of rather less than a metre in thickness with cross bedding. It is partly oolitic, consisting of small ooids together with intraclasts and algal features. The ooids are not of marine Porland Stone type and not reworked from this lower formation.
